Method of preparation and administration

Generally, Dasanga Agada is made into Gutika form for easy administration. All the ingredients are taken in equal quantity make fine powder of it. As Bhavana Dravya is not mentioned we can use Jala or Kashaya of the ingredients. Some eminent Visha Vaidyas in Kerala use Neeli Kashaya (Indigofera tinctoria, Fabacea family) as Bhavana Dravya. It is grinded until drug mass attains the required consistency of rolling the pills. Dry it under shade. Pack in a tightly closed glass containers for further use.

Other opinions

1. Churna of the drugs has to be mixed with water and given for drinking it.[9]

2. The ingredients in equal quantity are grinded in Hastipadi Swarasa (Elephantopus

scaber Linn, Asteraceae family) for making Vataka and is administrated with Hastapadi Swarasa and can also used as Lepa.[10]

3. The ingredients are made into powder and taken internally with Jala. It can be also used as Kashaya or in Gutika form or can used as Lepana.[11]

Dose of Dasanga Agada: Reference regarding the dosage of Dasanga Agada is not seen in Ayurvedic literature. The dosage and time of administration is fixed after assessing condition of patient.

Probable action of Dasanga Agada: It is having indication as “Sarvakeetavisham Jayeth”, it relieves the effects of poison of insect bite. This property may be due to the Prabhava of the Yoga than the effect of its individual ingredients. The properties of that Yoga can be understood by properties of individual ingredients.

Conclusion

Dasanga Agada is one of the Vishaghna Yoga used widely and found to be very effective in Keeta Visha. While analyzing the Doshagna property of the ingredients of Yoga 70% are Kaphavatahara. They are Katu, Tikta Rasa Pradhana, Laghu, Tikshna

Guna Pradhana, Ushna Virya Pradhana, Katu Vipaka Prdhana, and almost all of the drugs are having Vedanahara and Sophahara properties. Vacha, Hingu and Pippali are having Vedanasthapana action which will act on the Keetadamsha. Vidanga, Prativisha, Maricha and Patha are having Shothahara action. Prativisha and Patha are having Vishaghna action. However, action of Yoga is due to its Yoga Prabhaava. Pain, Swelling and redness are the primary symptoms of Keetadamsha. We can cure these symptoms by internal and external usage of Dasanga Agada.
