Abstract

Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) program has been accepted, and the services utilization has been increased among many Indian communities since its inception in 2005 under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM). ASHA worker's knowledge is important for the success of this program. ASHA will be the first port of call for any health related demands of deprived sections of the population, especially women and children, who find it difficult to access health services. Selected from the community itself and accountable to it, the ASHA will be trained to work as an interface between the community and the public health system. The ASHA scheme is presently in place in 33 states (except Goa, Chandigarh & Puducherry).[1] ASHA plays an important role in in the community for providing health care and even in MCH care also it plays in important role.
